The full price of QueryCalc is US$12,500 — although discounts are offered for organizations that run machines smaller than those that we consider base-sized systems, thus allowing them pay only a fraction of the full price now and then later whatever difference remains, as they grow and move up in HP3000 class of machine. The base machines are the Series 939/957. Once the base size has been achieved, there are no further price increases regardless of many more times you may upgrade your system.
As for the smaller discounted machines, the price QueryCalc is CPU dependent:

Renting |
In order to reduce initial capital outlay expenses, QueryCalc can also be rented in intervals of six months. When you rent QueryCalc, 85% of the rental payment is applied towards your equity ownership in QueryCalc. At the end of each six-month rental period, you have three choices: (i) discontinue the rental of QueryCalc, at no penalty, (ii) purchase QueryCalc, with whatever equity you've accrued deducted from the price of the product, or (iii) continue renting QueryCalc until it is fully paid for. The rental rate is quite low, 2% of the applicable purchase price per month.
It is expected that once you begin using QueryCalc, you will eventually purchase the product. Renting QueryCalc for six months or a year is a way of having the product now at a very reasonable cost and purchasing it later when funds become available. However, if you should continue to rent QueryCalc under this rental plan, QueryCalc is fully paid for in 5 years.

Maintenance charges are 15% of the applicable purchase price per year. Maintenance charges for the first year are included in the purchase price and are optional thereafter. Maintenance charges are not included in the rental costs and are obligatory for the duration of the rental period.

Transferring |
You can transfer your QueryCalc license from one computer to another. Every QueryCalc license is assigned to a specific HPSUSAN number. Instead of being required to pay for a new license whenever you exchange a computer, we allow you to transfer an existing QueryCalc license to the new machine. The fee for this license transfer is $975.
